After the most heart breaking performances by 'Athens medalist'-Shooter Rajyavardhan Rathore, Sania Mirza, Sunitha Rao, Saina Agarwal, Dola Banerjee, Mahes Bhupati, Paes and Other prominent aspirants from India the hope was looming over Boxer Akhil kumar. Indians nurturing their hopes around Akhil Kumar to have another Gold by him after Golden Boy of Chandigarh, Abinava Brinda.

Akhil KumarIt was heartbreak for India as boxer Akhil Kumar lost 3-10 to Molodovan Veaceslav Gojan in the bantamweight (54kg) category quarterfinals at the Olympic Games here Monday.
It may be mentioned with pride that Akhil Kumar may not have brought the promised Olympic boxing medal, but his performance would surely inspire others that it is not beyond their reach.

A Chandigarh-boy Abhinav Brinda(25) has made India proud as he has gifted his Nation with a gold medal on the eve of Independence day after a gap of 28 years.It's a dream for Indians which has come to reality,when our expected Sports-stars Sania Mirza retire and Anup Sridhar exit for one or other reasons. Abhinav won the Gold medal by defeating Zhu Qinan of china and Henri Hakkinen of Finland in men's 10m air rifle competition.
In women's badminton,Hyderabadi-girl Saina Nehwal adds cheer to India by clearing pre-quarter final,beating Chen Wang of Hongkong.
As Brinda placed India in the list of Gold rush,he personally was gifted with big prize money from his home front. President Ms.Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohon Singh and many more dignitaries and people from every walks of life greeted & congratulated him with assurances Of a number of gifts. Hope of another Medal gone: Rathore failed.
Beijing: Shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, one of India's major Olympics medal hopes in shooting, failed to make it to the final round in trap shooting Tuesday.
