Established in 1922, the University of Delhi is one of the premier universities of the country and is known for its high standards in teaching and research. It offers courses at the Undergraduate and Post Graduate levels in most subjects. With a student strength of over 300,000, it is among the largest Universities in the world.

D.U introduces 5-New Professional courses in session 2009.
Delhi University’s School of Open Learning (SOL)Launched five new
professional courses in collaboration with 5 private companies to boost up the skills of the youth in 5-certain sectors.The students can opt for these specialized professional courses while pursuing Their regular academic courses.All these courses are specially designed for imparting professional training to the students.They also will offer internship at the end of the course and placement assistance will be provided to the deserving candidates by the industry. As a part of MoU ,World recognized courses will be offered to all affiliated colleges of D.U as well as to students of SOL and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board.
Classes will be held at Centre for professional and Technical Training Campus of Open Learning at the Keshavpuram Centre of SOL. All D.U students pursuing graduation or post –graduation in any stream can apply for these courses , which are specially designed keeping in mind the development of their employability skills.

• Centum Learning Limited Certificate course in Telecommunication sales and service.
• HCL Info system certificate course in IT and web designing.
• Bird Education Society for Travel and Tourism has three specialized travel and tourism courses – aviation,travel and tourism ; IT ad hospitality management and airport handling and IATA Cargo course.
• Masscomedia for Mass Communication.
• R.K.Films for radio jockeying and broadcasting.

• Students already enrolled in Delhi University can also Take up these courses in the new session.

ADD-ON SHORT TERM COURSES-09
Add-on courses are the latest USP of Delhi University.From certificate courses in mass-media to Foreign languages ,Aviation and even Nanotechnology,these supplementary courses are a huge hit among students of new era.Add-on courses are designed to give students an edge in the intensely competitive job market.It may be noted that these courses have a short duration –generally three to sis months .While some colleges require the students to apply for them along with the regular admission form, others will begin the the process after the session starts in July.

Ramjas College:
Ramjas College –one of the first among many is offering 26 such courses.So,Student can chose from ,Peace and conflict,Resolution,Forensic Sciences,Human rights studies,Insurance Theory and statistical programming for add-onskills.Admission for these courses is on till June 15 in the College.

St.Stephen’s College :
Offers Diploma Courses In French and German, admission for which starts from June 15 and will be on till Jnue 30.Forms for these courses can be procured from the counter opposite the Syndicate Bank


Hindu college :
The College has got Acting skills & creative writing as courses.The College also has mass media and Green Chemistry on its additional courses list.Students can apply for these along with the college forms till June 15.

Miranda House:
Miranda House is one of the oldest women’s colleges in Delhi University has also several career-oriented courses for those who want to get in to job-world immediately after graduation. It has courses on Tourism,Web Designing ,Operational research and Office automation.Also on offer are courses in Theatre, Direction(in collaboration with The National School of Drama) and courses in French ,German,Spanish and Russian.


Gargi College :
Another women’s college ,Gargi, has a huge variety to offer to students .It has more than 30 courses such as Vedic Mathematics, Peace Building, Vastu Shastra, Advertising, Marketing and Theatre. Gargi’s career-oriented courses also include Banking and Financial Services, Advertising and Market Communication and other language courses. The college has many ‘out sourced’ courses such as Stock Market, Operations, Air travel, Personality Development and Fundamental Financial Analysis.

Kamala Nehru College:
Kamala Nehru College is the only college in D.U which has certificate course in Disaster Management.This course is in collaboration with the Home Guards,aims to give students practical knowledge about handling disaster-related situations.
Lady ShriRamCollege:
This College has courses in Art Appreciation,Film Studies,Language courses and a course on women studies.Another popular course there is Conflict Transformation and Peace Building.Admission to these courses will begin once the session starts.

Maitryi College :
This college offers a short-term certificate course in Nanotechnology.




Courses not referred in Common admission form, Exam. 2009
There are certain multi-utility courses (Vocational courses) in the Syllabi of Delhi University .For going in to such courses Delhi University Common admission form not valid .
